That's why we make products that are both high-quality and sustainable—products you'll be able to treasure forever. Our cheese boards, serving trays, coasters and other products are designed and created with a focus on sharing and congregating with loved ones. These products can also serve as unique and personalised gifts, empowering individuals, couples and families to commemorate important life events and express their love through thoughtful giving. It is our team’s hope that the products we create will find happy use as centrepieces for friends and loved ones who gather to share good food, good wine and good stories.
THE JOURNEY SO FAR!
The Fifth Design was founded by Lauren O'Meara, a self-taught designer with a passion for creating utilitarian art that can be used in everyday life. She began her career as an abstract artist, but soon realized that she wanted to make her work more accessible to the public. She started The Fifth Design with the goal of creating products that people could use in their daily lives—and it's been a wild ride since then!
It's been over 6 years since we first started selling our products, and we've seen our business grow rapidly. We now ship thousands of our products all over the world each year, and we're thrilled to have such a wonderful team of artisans and makers working together on this project.

We’re a small family-owned business that makes beautiful, handmade products for everyday use. We believe that art should not be limited to museums and galleries; it should be shared with everyone. Most of all, we believe in creating products that are made with heart and soul—products that will bring happiness into your life and into the homes of others.
Our artisanal process is rooted in taking art off of walls and giving it an active role in the lives of everyday people. For centuries, art has been revered and allocated to static environments like museums. We find this idea outdated (and frankly boring!). We pour artistic passion and inspiration into creating each of the products you’ll find in our selection, making art something that our customers can bring into their homes and share with others.
Our passion for creating artistic, handmade products for everyday use is only equalled by our passion for sustainability and protecting the environment. At The Fifth Design, we’ve always strived to use sustainable materials and processes to create our products—and we recently took the next step toward enhancing this. Through the use of locally sourced, sustainable timber, solar power energy, plastic free and carbon zero shipping we are making strong steps towards a truly sustainable business.
