Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
The Fifth Design is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.
What We Have Done
We have taken the following steps to ensure accessibility across our website:
- Added descriptive alternative text to all product images so screen readers can describe our boards, homewares, and gift boxes
- Added accessible labels to all logo images across the site
- Added captions and descriptive labels to all video content, including our Instagram feed
- Implemented a visible "Skip to content" link for keyboard users to bypass navigation
- Added clear focus indicators so keyboard users can see which element is currently selected
- Ensured all navigation menus have proper labels for screen readers
- Added accessible labels to all form fields, buttons, and interactive elements
- Fixed heading hierarchy across all pages so screen readers can navigate content logically
- Improved text contrast on hero banners and overlay content
- Added live regions so screen reader users are notified when the cart updates or errors occur
- Respected the "prefers reduced motion" setting for users who are sensitive to animation
- Ensured touch targets meet minimum size requirements for mobile users
Third-Party Content
Some content on our website is provided by third-party services, including our Instagram feed and customer review widgets. While we have enhanced these elements with accessibility features where possible, we cannot guarantee full accessibility of content controlled by external providers.
Feedback
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of The Fifth Design website. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at hello@thefifthdesign.com.au.
