Ordering and delivery.

How quickly can I receive my order?

We offer Standard, Express, and Express + Priority Dispatch options. If you need it fast, choose Express + Priority Dispatch at checkout for same-day dispatch on orders placed before 2pm AEST. See our shipping page for postcode-specific estimates.

Do you offer international shipping?

Yes. We ship worldwide. International Standard is $10 AUD (free over $150), International Express is $15 AUD (free over $300). Local import duties and taxes are the recipient's responsibility.

How do I track my order?

You'll receive a tracking email as soon as your order is dispatched. Tap the link in the email or look up your tracking number on the Australia Post or carrier website.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Afterpay, Zip, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. All transactions are processed through encrypted, secure payment gateways.

Can I visit a physical store or showroom?

We operate online from our Sunshine Coast studio. We're not open to the public, however we do offer local pickup, which you can select at checkout.

Products and personalisation.

Can I customise or engrave my order?

Yes. Many of our pieces can be laser-engraved with a name, date, message or short quote. Choose the personalisation options on the product page at checkout. Engraving is included free of charge.

Can I preview my engraving before purchase?

Yes. You can preview your engraving on the product page before adding to cart so you can see exactly how it will look.

If you'd also like to see the actual product before we engrave it, leave a note in the order checkout. We'll send you a quick mockup of your engraved board within a few hours and wait for your sign-off before the laser runs.

Do you offer gift wrapping and a personal message?

Every order arrives in our branded kraft gift box tied with cream ribbon, included free of charge. You can add a handwritten-style gift note message at checkout, which we print and pack inside the box. No invoice, no pricing, no paper trail, so you can send it directly to the recipient.

Will my product look exactly like the photos?

Each piece is poured by hand, so the resin pattern and timber grain will vary slightly. The photos are a guide. The variation is what makes every piece one of a kind.

What materials are used in your products?

Locally-sourced Camphor Laurel timber and a hand-poured epoxy resin finish. Read more about our sustainability promise.

Using and caring for your board.

Can I use my board with food?

The timber side of the board is your everyday food surface. Solid Camphor Laurel, ready for chopping, slicing and serving.

The resin side is decorative and is also great for serving softer foods, dip bowls, olive bowls and the like. For anything wet or that needs cutting, use the timber side.

How do I clean and maintain my board?

Wipe both sides with a soft, damp cloth and dry immediately. No dishwasher, no abrasive scourers, no harsh chemicals. Oil the timber every few weeks with a food-grade mineral oil or beeswax. Full instructions on our product care guide.

Are your boards heat resistant?

The resin side is heat sensitive and should not have hot pans, hot plates or food straight out of the oven placed on it. Parchment paper is not a heat barrier, please always use a trivet or board for hot items.

The timber side handles warm food well.

Are your products durable?

Yes. Looked after well, our boards last for years. The care guide above explains the small habits that keep them beautiful.

Returns, exchanges and support.

What is your return policy?

30-day returns on unused items, including engraved pieces. Damaged, defective or incorrect items are covered by our consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law.

What if my product arrives damaged?

Email customersupport@thefifthdesign.com.au within 14 days of delivery with your order number and photos. We'll arrange a replacement, repair or refund.

How can I contact customer support?

What if I'm not sure the recipient will love it?

A gift certificate lands instantly and lets them choose their own piece. Always a safe option for the in-between moments.

How long has The Fifth Design been operating?

The Fifth Design has been operating since 2016. What started as a Sunshine Coast project has grown into a recognised brand known for considered design and quality craft.

Do you offer wholesale or corporate gifting?
