Engraving Inspiration
Are you looking to engrave your own piece?
A great opportunity for your piece to hold even more intention. Engraving is complimentary, done by us, and adds no time to your order. Tell us about your home, and we will suggest five phrases worth keeping.
These are some of our favourites.
- A reason together.
- Made to be shared.
- Where we keep coming back.
- The table we built.
- For the slow ones.
Where it earns its place
A small piece that finds a home everywhere.
Hand-poured resin on a slab of sustainably sourced acacia. Six colourways, no two the same. Made to hold something, made to hold nothing, made to be looked at either way.
By the door
For keys, rings, the small things.
On the coffee table
For nibbles, olives, salted almonds.
In any room
As a piece of art that holds nothing.
How it comes to you
Designed here. Engraved here. Made by trusted hands.
Our bowls are designed in our Sunshine Coast studio and produced by trusted makers we have worked with for years. Every piece is finished and personalised by us before it leaves.
Designed by us
Six colourways, two hardwood shapes, one studio aesthetic. Each design starts in our studio and goes to the maker with our specifications.
Made by trusted hands
Each bowl is hand-poured with resin on sustainably sourced acacia wood. No two pours flow the same. We work closely with our makers to keep quality consistent.
Finished and engraved by us
When the bowls arrive in our studio, we inspect them, then laser engrave each one in-house with your initials, a date, or a short word. Complimentary, no added wait.
Made by us. Used by you.
We do not make every piece by ourselves. We design our bowls in our studio, work with trusted makers to produce them, then finish and engrave each one by hand here on the Sunshine Coast.
I am Lauren. Welcome to the studio.
Why people end up buying two.
Real photos. Real homes. Real bowls, finding their place.
I bought one for the entryway and one for the dining table. Now I keep finding rooms that need one.
Olivia, QLD · for our home
Bought it as a fruit bowl. Now I find every reason to put something in it. The Sage Green is even better than the photos.
Bec, NSW · our own kitchen

Sits perfectly with my Mud Australia ceramics. Feels like it belongs in our home, not styled for a shoot.
Hannah, VIC · for our table
Questions, answered.
The bits people ask about before they buy.
What can I use it for?
Anything that does well in a small, beautiful bowl. Olives at dinner. Salted almonds on the coffee table. Rings and earrings on the bedside. Keys and small change by the front door. Or nothing at all. Plenty of customers buy it purely as a piece on the side table that holds the room together.
How do I clean it?
Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Hand wash only if needed, never the dishwasher. The acacia base benefits from a refresh of food-grade oil once every few months to keep the timber from drying out. The resin surface only needs the occasional wipe.
Is it food-safe?
Yes for nibbles, dry snacks, fruit, olives, and anything that sits in the bowl briefly. The resin is decorative and not built for direct heat, so do not place hot food directly into it. For wet or oily foods, line the bowl first or use the timber base.
What kind of wood is it?
Sustainably sourced acacia hardwood. Acacia is a naturally hardy timber with a rich grain pattern and a warm tone that complements our resin pours. It is strong enough for daily use and ages beautifully with light oiling.
Can I engrave it?
Yes. We can engrave your initials, a date, or a short word on the underside of the timber base. Complimentary, done in-house, no added dispatch time. Most self-bought bowls go unengraved to keep the lines clean, but the option is yours.
What if I do not love it?
We accept returns within 30 days, including engraved pieces. Email hello@thefifthdesign.com.au and we will arrange a return label.
