Our commitment.

The Fifth Design is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the experience of our website for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

The standard we follow.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

What we have done.

Steps we have taken across the website include:

  • Descriptive alternative text on all product images so screen readers can describe our boards, homewares and gift boxes
  • Accessible labels on all logo images and decorative graphics
  • Captions and descriptive labels on video content, including our Instagram feed
  • A visible "Skip to content" link for keyboard users to bypass navigation
  • Clear focus indicators so keyboard users can see which element is selected
  • Proper labels on all navigation menus, form fields, buttons and interactive elements
  • Logical heading hierarchy across pages so screen readers can navigate content properly
  • Improved text contrast on hero banners and overlay content
  • Live regions so screen reader users are notified when the cart updates or errors occur
  • Respect for the "prefers reduced motion" setting for users sensitive to animation
  • Touch targets that meet minimum size requirements for mobile users

Third-party content.

Some content on our website is provided by third-party services, including our Instagram feed, payment providers and customer review widgets. We enhance these elements with accessibility features where possible. We cannot guarantee the full accessibility of content controlled by external providers.

Ongoing improvement.

Accessibility is not a one-off project. We review our site regularly, test with assistive technologies, and act on the feedback we receive. If something is broken, we want to know.

Australian legislation.

This website is developed with the Australian Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) in mind. The DDA requires that people with disabilities have equal access to goods, services and facilities, including websites.
