It doesn't matter if you want to cook for your sweetheart or just treat yourself and your friends; there are so many ways that cooking can be both an act of affection and a wonderfully mindful experience.

We here at The Fifth Design are a big bunch of romantics - we think that maybe there’s no better way of making someone feel loved than through a well prepared and thoughtful meal! Food is one of the most powerful ways to show someone you care about them. Valentine's Day can be a great time for couples or individuals who want to share their love with others, by cooking up some delicious food and sharing it with those you are grateful for!

Below we have listed some of our absolute favourite food-sharing and feasting ideas.

Breakfast In Bed

This one has to be one of our favourites. To arise from a peaceful slumber, only to get told to stay in bed whilst your loved one brings you coffee and a mouth-watering spread of fine pastries and fresh fruit. Whether your love prefers fresh fruit, eggs and bacon or plain old cereal, the act of breakfast in bed is one of the most romantic and heartfelt experiences. Below we have listed some of our favourite breakfast styles.

Parisian Style

Spoil your loved one with a fresh croissant and coffee. You can pair the croissant with jam, fruits or ham and cheese. A fresh bowl of raspberries won’t go astray here either ;)

Fresh and Light

If your loved one prefers munching on fruit rather than grinding it into toast, this one may be for you. A seasonal assortment of fresh fruit and berries along with some yogurt and granola is definitely a winner. Pair this with some coffee and a fresh juice and you will have ticked all the boxes for Valentine's day!

AvoValentines
For the lover who never skips their avo on toast, make this one a little extra special. An artisanal loaf of sourdough with some feta, rocket and candied walnuts. Side it with a freshly made (or freshly bought from their favourite coffee shop down the road ;) ) cup of coffee.

The Big Breaky!
Go big or go home, right? Shower them with all of their favourites, hash browns, eggs, bacon, sourdough, spinach, avo, everything! Maybe even a mimosa on the side ;)

PROTIP - Get them a bunch of flowers and walk in with your breakfast spread as a surprise

Picnic In The Park

This one is for everyone, whether you are celebrating singles valentines with your friends or planning a romantic picnic for your partner, this experience is always on for the books

Cocktail Feast
Bring together a selection of some of the finest fruits, alcohol and mixers for an afternoon in the park. Search for some cocktails that you want to try and pair them with some nibbles. Our favourites are a few kinds of fine cheeses, crackers, fruit and some chocolate

Intimate Moments
To surprise your partner with a beautiful experience this Valentine’s Day you will need to do a bit of prep. We think this surprise is the king of our ideas. Organise an intimate little picnic for you and your partner, plan it all before, keep it a secret, set it up and then tell them to meet you there. How special!
We highly recommend a fine bottle of wine, a spread of artisanal cheeses and dips and pair it with some rustic bread and grapes and strawberries.

Candlelit Dinner For Two

A romantic dinner is such a mood setter. Have you ever created a truly romantic spread for dinner? Candles, flowers, the lot? We most certainly have not but have decided it will be so worth it! Plan to cook their favourite meal but invest in a whole lot of candles, some fine red wine and roses. Give them a truly Hollywood moment this Valentines

Whether you’re planning a romantic breakfast in bed or dinner for two, we hope these ideas will inspire you to create a delicious and memorable meal this Valentine’s Day. And don’t forget the most important part – show your loved ones how much you care by cooking with love!

Happy Valentines Day from The Fifth Design Family
